International importance: The look is included in the Red List of Lithuania.

Description:
The largest ground beetle in Belarus. Length of a bug is 30-42 mm. Odnotsvetno is black. Wing sheaths are almost opaque, in rough wrinkles. On forward pads of a male 3 chlenik are expanded.

Rasprostraniyeniye:
Western European mesophilic look. Meets across all territory of the republic, but it is rare.

Habitats:
Lives in the woods of different types. In fir groves and pine forests it is sometimes usual.

Biology:
View with aestivo-autumnal type of reproduction, imagos and larvae winter. The greatest activity is noted at the end of August - the beginning of September. Larvae and an imago eat larvae of insects, overland mollusks, worms; are active mainly in twilight and at night.

Number and tendency of its change:
It is noted in all territory of the republic, is sometimes usual. Tendencies of change of number are studied poorly.

Major factors of threat:
Economic activity in the woods, and also reduction of the areas of fir groves - one of the main places of dwellings of a look.

Protection measures:
The look is included in the 2nd edition of the Red List of Republic of Belarus (the III category). Identification of new habitats of a look and their protection.
