After heavy fighting the 89th shooting case occupied on July 10, 1944 a railway junction Luninets and the city. Our battalion which is a part of the case performed a lot of work on mine clearing of a bolshak from Zhitkovichy to Lunints, provided advance of military equipment and people on the woody marshland along the road.

The 89th shooting case among seven military units of connections was awarded the order by Verkhovnokomanduyushchego's order the Red Star and the honourable name "Luninetsky" is appropriated to it. The major general Yanovsky congratulated on a victory of soldiers and officers. In successful approach essential help was given to the Soviet troops by local guerrillas.

The further way of a battalion lay on Kobrin. Investigation reported that approaches to the city, the main roads are densely mined. After a small respite in villages Vulka-pervaya and Vulka-vtoraya sappers were transferred on mine clearing of roads. Separate machines continually were blown up on enemy mines.

And nevertheless fascists did not sustain an impact of our troops. After heavy fighting Kobrin was taken. On a central square of the city the red flag was hung out. People took to the streets, exulted.

As a result of the carried-out approach the Soviet troops left to the suburb of Warsaw - Prague and occupied the important base on the west bank of Vistula. As a result release of the southwest areas of Belarus and east regions of Poland was complete.

In fight for Brest and in the subsequent fights among others the 212th Krichevsky shooting division as a part of which the lieutenant colonel Mikhail Mitrofanovich Pantsevich, the native of Elsk who served from the commander of a company to the commander of a regiment was at war most caused a stir. His breast is decorated by two awards of the Red Banner, an award of the Red Star, four awards of Patriotic war, and also war decorations of Army Polish.

In the war the destiny brought together Mikhail Mitrofanovich with the nurse Vera Fiodorovna with whom he connected the life, established a family. Now at them two remarkable daughters, ten grandsons and great-grandsons.

Brother-soldiers and relatives sacredly revere memory of the fighting commander. Well, and, of course, it would be quite good to establish in the homeland of the brave commander a memorial board — as a tribute of descendants to him personally and to all heroes veterans.
