Recently Kobrin district celebrated nice anniversary - 60 years from the date of release from fascist aggressors. Festive salute died down. And celebrations were succeeded by everyday life.

60 years ago soldiers of the 61st army after Kobrin operation continued to come, and a staff of the 1st Belarusian front led by K. Rokossovsky, defining immediate tasks, held meeting in one of buildings down the street May Day (the former movie theater "on September 17"). These days the commander had many affairs. Subsequently Rokossovsky will write: "... I as to the Front commander had to be engaged much with a staff... On the place everything that was connected with the forthcoming approach - management of troops both at the beginning, and during operation was fulfilled, masking of the movement of our troops, transportation of equipment and ammunition, the choice and the equipment of routes and roads, and also all cunnings which would mislead the opponent concerning our intentions..."

The ordinary event of war which took place at the beginning of August, 1944, today for kobrinchan - an occasion to remember the person whose talent of a military leader in many respects defined the successful result of the operation "Bagration" as a result of which invaders were expelled from our earth. The Belarusian operation is studied by all academies of the world. But the few know that such name is given it because Stalin called Rokossovsky "my Bagration". For carrying out this very difficult strategic operation to K. Rokossovsky the rank of the marshal of the Soviet Union was given.

Future marshal in the small town Velikiye Luki (The Pskov region) in a family of the railway driver Pole Ksaveriya Rokossovsky and his Russian spouse Antonina was born on December 21, 1896. The middle name had to be replaced in the 20th years with Konstantinovich because of the clerks who were constantly distorting a name, "difficult" for them.
Soon after the son's birth Rokossovsky' family moved to Warsaw. Kostya early was deserted. It was necessary to earn money for life own hands: worked the worker at chulochny factory in Warsaw, then - the mason.

Its destiny was abruptly changed by World War I: asked for one of the Russian regiments of imperial army following on the West through Warsaw. To Rokossovsky there was then the eighteenth year. Soon he became the junior corporal of the Kargopolsky regiment. Rokossovsky supported the October armed revolt which established the Soviet power. In civil war it was awarded twice the order the Red Banner. After that ordered cavalry regiments, crew, a division, the case. And in August, 1937 he was accused of communications with foreign intelligence services. Spent two and a half years in prison of People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. Despite everything, kept courageously, as the guilty person of did not recognize in anything and in March the 1940th was completely acquitted.

At first the Great Patriotic War he was appointed the commander of the 4th army and transferred to the Western front. Here, on the Smolensk direction, the yartsevsky group of troops which was ordered by Rokossovsky in the hardest fights stops furious approach of fascist troops. In days of fight for Moscow he carried out successful counterattack as a result of which the enemy was rejected on 100-250 km from Moscow.

After the Battle of Stalingrad Rokossovsky's authority grew up even more. Stalin began to call it only on a name and a middle name.

In the 1943rd and in the 1944th Rokossovsky orders troops of the 1st Belarusian front. On July 29, 1944 the marshal Rokossovsky is entitled the Hero of the Soviet Union.

The talent of this person of a military leader really was valued according to the merits. He is the gentleman of the award "Victory", seven Orders of Lenin, six - the Red Banner, the Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov of the first degree, and also many foreign awards.

Life human is rapid. On August 3, 1968 Rokossovsky died. It is buried in the Kremlin wall at Red Square.

Unfortunately, at us in the city the name of the great commander is not immortalized. The toponymic commission formed at Kobrin district executive committee in 2002 quite reasonably can petition for assignment of Rokossovsky of one of new streets.
