At buildings, as well as at people, the destiny. Here and to the wooden structure noted on Kobrin's plan of 1797 it was fated not only to escape in a tuft of military shocks, to become a history particle, but also her keeper... It is about the house received among other grounds of the Kobrin key by Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov for military feats in glory to Russia. As the destiny of the great commander, and the house which subsequently to the kobrinchena began to call "Suvorov" was difficult. What only did not take place in its small rooms: establishments, apartments, and Hitlerites during occupation put horses there...

So everything began
In 1946 it were the warped walls with empty eye-sockets of windows under a roof full of holes which easily could disappear from the face of the earth. Fortunately, it did not happen. There were people, not indifferent to history of native places, took the corresponding steps. And here pleasant for kobrinchan news: despite post-war difficulties of the Central Committee of a bedding set made the decision on restoration of the historical house and opening in it of the museum of Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov...

Probably, the same favorable destiny influenced also the choice of the head still of the nonexistent museum. On August 4, 1946 Alexey Mikhaylovich Martynov who was earlier engaged in the organization of post service and city library was appointed his director. New appointment promised only difficulties. It was necessary to penetrate into subtleties of restoration of the building, to master a role of the supplier. The person is educated, responsible, Martynov already at that time understood that it is necessary to collect exhibits without which the museum is impossible. Several Russian coins of the different periods inherited from the father yes something from the "plane materials" found among household things and suitable for future exposition became the first of them.

In the summer of 1947 Martynov managed to visit Moscow and Leningrad, to collect material on Kobrin's stories and Brest, to get acquainted with suvorovoveda, the staff of the Leningrad Artillery museum which soon became the main supplier of original exhibits on military subject. And by the end of 1948 in funds 663 subjects of museum value were already registered.

At the beginning of the same year, after completion of the main works on restoration, the profile of the museum was finally defined: military and historical of A. V. Suvorov. The higher instance founded sections of an exposition: "Our great ancestors", "A. V. Suvorov", "Patriotic war of 1812". The regional management made the decision to date opening of the museum for May 1. The number of the first visitors was estimated in hundreds. And by the end of the first year of work the museum was visited by over 18 thousand people.

Alexey Mikhaylovich Martynov was interested not only a Suvorov, military and historical subject. It conducted also big local history work which allowed to fill in "white" pages of history of the city where he was born, grew and took place as the personality.

But we will return to the museum. By the end of the 70th years the number of exhibits exceeded a 5-thousand mark, the richest collections of numismatics, cold and firearms, regimentals and equipment of the Russian army and those countries were collected that at different times resisted to Russia. In a year across halls passed 3-4 thousand excursions as a part of which there were people not only from all corners of the Soviet Union, but also from foreign countries. And museum staff consisted of 10 people.

After leaving in 1978 Martynova on pension by the successor of his business became Nina Mefodyevna Plisko who gave to museum work 32 years. To it, as well as the predecessor, it was also necessary to be engaged in construction. But already in other conditions. The second exposition the "Kobrin's History" occupying 16 halls works in the new building which is decoration of our city today 11 years. Found reflection in it the first annalistic mention of the city, data on the ancient Kobrin castle, receiving by the city the Magdebourg right and the first coat of arms, an event of Patriotic war of 1812, difficult periods of two world wars. The first exposition, in the Suvorov house, has memorial character, is based on original objects of the 18th century which reflect life and activity of the great commander. The interested visitor can find here and personal belongings of historical persons.

Not history uniform...
After disintegration of the Soviet Union the number of visitors of the museum decreased, but it is not empty. There are people to a Suvorov lodge, showroom of the second building. The secret is simple: except the main traditional work, the staff of the museum pays much attention of exhibition. This direction, is generally calculated on the younger generation, on development of its interest in history and art, education of art and esthetic taste, the statement of cultural and cultural values. And exhibition and lecture activity is conducted both in the museum, and beyond its limits.

Since 1997 the constant exhibition sale of works of painting, graphics, arts and crafts and national crafts of modern Kobrin artists works. Museum workers do not do a difference between professional authors and amateur.

In showroom the thematic exhibitions created as on the basis of own collections, and received from other museums, private collections or the creative unions constantly function. Their subject various: from a hometown subject to an iconography of Belarus in the 21st century.

The great interest at kobrinchan was caused by the Keeper of History exhibition devoted to the 100 anniversary since the birth of the creator, the first director of the museum Alexey Martynov.

The museum works not only with adult masters and artists, but also with young talents what exhibitions of drawings of pupils of a fine art studio of the center of children's creativity, children from the Bulgarian city of Vratsa testify to... In fact the museum carries out functions of showroom unusual for it. But it is very important and necessary work, the main visitors in such days are school students of Kobrin district, tourists and city visitors.

And still here follow knowledge which can be comprehended from books. The museum library by right is characterized in a word - magnificent. Both on a variety of literature, and on level of service. Confirmation to they are the numerous works of our school students prepared on museum materials and which took prizes in regional and republican competitions.

Not so much profession, how many calling
The success of business depends on those who carry out it. Who continues to collect today, to keep and bear to new generations history and the present? This question was asked Elena Viktorovna Babenko who heads the third year staff of the museum. The answer was short:

- Today in a staff of the museum of 30 people. Many of them gave to this work more than 15 years. They are also a kernel of collective, a management support in all undertakings. It is possible to tell that the museum is lucky also on young employees who differ in initiative, creative approach to work...

The museum is a place where people of professions, unusual to the city, work: keeper of funds, restorer, inspector, research associate... Their answers concerning work were still lakonichny.

Elena KURISHKO. senior inspector:
- I go to work as for a holiday. And the most pleasant minutes when visitors of the museum leave us with good mood, gratitude for acquaintance to history and attention of employees.

Anna ChEB. chief keeper of funds:
- First of all I feel heavy responsibility for the huge historical material which is saved up for many years. And pride that in our town there are exhibits, worthy the capital museums.

Elena RYS. manager of exposition department:
- The research associate is not so much a profession, how many calling. Casual people at us are not late, and remained grow into the business strongly.
