Residents of our city of Alexey Mikhaylovich Martynov call live history of Mr. Kobrin. To us, library workers, it is especially pleasant that under its management it was organized in 1939 and the city library is updated in post-war time.

In 1946 he became the director of the Kobrin museum where fulfilled 32 years. It created also local society of the nature and protection of monuments. The local historian and the historian, Alexey Mikhaylovich made much Kobrin became the historical and cultural place on Belarus, collected huge material on stories of the native land.

Alexey Mikhaylovich in to Kobrina in the teacher's family was born. His grandfather was a participant of the Russian-Turkish war of 1854. (Date of birth - 20 Aug. 1904). In the years of 1 world war (s1915) Martynov' family as refugees was in Rogachevshchina. Here Alexey graduated from brigade average school in Rogachyov. After death of the father (1922) Martynov' family (Alexey, his mother, the sister, ml. the brother) comes back to the hometown where there was an antiquated lodge and a ground.

Years when Kobrin was a part of burzhuaznopomeshchichy Poland, were difficult for Alexey Martynov. The long period of time it was the unemployed, then it was succeeded to get a job on sawmill. These years he seriously was engaged in self-education, according to the self-instruction manual learned foreign languages. Learned 100 words a day, seeking to get abroad for work. Alexey Mikhaylovich learned the Polish, German, French languages, Esperanto, and still translates in these languages. During this period Alexey Mikhaylovich reads much. There is a wish to note that in Martynov' family there was always a priority of the book, the printing word. Books were acquired for many years. The home library of Alexey Mikhaylovich reaches 6 thousand copies.

Alexey Martynov not only read these years, but also successfully wrote. It were works of art, generally stories which he sent to the Chicago anarchical newspaper (Martynov received 5 dollars for one publication). After reading of Marx's "Capital" the thought arose by it to share on paper. As a result the article "Lord of the World" was written and sent to Paris in one of emigrant editions which was headed by the famous writer Mark Aldanov (in 1931) M. Aldanov sent the answer to the beginning author.

In 1939 at once after reunion of the Western Belarus with Martynov A.M. BSSR. Subbotin Tit invited to himself. Fyodorovich, the chairman of temporary board who offered it the organization in the library city. In a predveriya of significant date - the 60 anniversary of education in the library city, there is a wish to dwell upon this period of life of Alexey Mikhaylovich.

Under it the small wooden house on Suvorov St. was allocated. Here books and the equipment of all nationalized libraries are brought. Soon parcels with books from east areas of the republic began to come to its address. Necessary processing of literature was made, and the first readers came to the end of 1939 in library. It was succeeded even to open a small reading room. From month to month the volume of work of the new center of culture extended: lecturing was organized, recursors for rural reading rooms were regularly completed. To summer of 1941 the book fund contained 14 thousand copies.

In the years of fascist occupation the library was placed on Svoboda Square (where there was a Tkani shop). From all collective (7 people) only one librarian worked and literature was only in Polish.

In the years of war Alexey Mikhaylovich worked as the warehouse manager of building materials, was connected with guerrilla group of Chapayev. Repeatedly it got for group city maps with the German organizations, then was mobilized in Red Army.

The city of Kobrin was freed from fascist invaders on the night of July 20, 1944, and on July 22 at meeting of an asset in a bedding set district committee assigned a duty in naikratchayshy time to update normal work of library to A. Martynov. It was decided to occupy a small brick mansion on Sovetskaya St. Windows indoors were without glass, but an internal sun blind escaped. The library was very lucky with literature. The matter is that in the first days of occupation the German military commandant's office demanded under the threat of the most severe punishments of delivery of all Soviet books, and first of all political literature. And here in the former bookstore many various books were succeeded to find Martynova. The part them was from library, handed over the population, the others much - from stocks of shop.

In 1945 after demobilization A. Martynov worked in technical bureau. The next 32 years of life of Alexey Mikhaylovich are connected with the military and historical museum of A.V. Suvorov. A.M. Martynov was a direct founder and the director of the museum which opened in 1946. The Suvorov museum is really Martynovsky a child. The majority of the available exhibits, full restoration, to be exact, newly the constructed Suvorov lodge - result of big return of energy, knowledge, Alexey Mikhaylovich's abilities.

In the 60th years Martynov headed volunteer society of protection of monuments. He collected materials on city monuments and the area, itself wrote lectures, cooperated with AN of Belarus in drawing up the Arch of historical and cultural monuments. A merit of this cleverest person that he knew very valuable facts - when certain houses, churches, monuments are built. All staff of the military and historical museum was members of society of protection of monuments.

The important merit of Alexey Mikhaylovich is that to the 30 anniversary of liberation of Belarus from fascist aggressors (1974) on the city and the area more than 20 memorial boards are established, the places deserving memory and respect are noted. A.M. Martynov and in that significant date in city life - Kobrin's 700 anniversary (1987) was not forgotten showed an initiative. Since 1972 both the director of the museum, and his employees constantly mentioned in lectures the forthcoming anniversary of the city.

And now, having exchanged the ninth decade, he very much is interested in cultural and political life of the republic, the fact that he directly concerns the hometown. Its articles can often be seen in the regional newspaper. In life this person - really a role model. A.M. Martynov leads a healthy lifestyle, is regularly engaged in starvation, bathes in a cold season. In a hospital of hospital only 1 time was treated. Alexey Mikhaylovich is intelligent, sustained, tactful, interests the interlocutor at the first acquaintance. And of course it is charming and nice, despite the years.
