The territory of Belarus as component of the Soviet Union of the first assumed blow of fascist terror. A result of a nazi genocide and "scorched earth" in Belarus was destruction over 2 million people. Invaders burned, destroyed and plundered 209 cities and settlements of city type, 9200 villages, 10000 collective farms.

Also Kobrin district was influenced by policy of a new order. Despite courage of defenders of the Brest fortress, soldiers 123-go the aviashelf, parts of the 4th army, by the evening 23 nyunya 1941 Hitlerites entered the city. From this point the most tragic period in all its history began.

Already from the dawn on the most remote small streets zatopat boots of the German patrols. From the first day on walls and columns there were bilingual announcements on which the short word "that" and nearby its translation - "death" was highlighted in bold type. In the long list of the violations punished by immediate execution it appeared: attempt at Germans and their property, storage of the weapon and ammunition, concealment of communists and Soviet military personnel, storage of radio receivers and hearing of foreign transfers, storage of the Soviet literature and other.

In an early autumn of 1941 the board of military commandant's office in Kobrin ended. On September 3 the civil power was received by the district commissioner Pantser, the city became the center of a gebitskomissariat - the administrative district which part Kobrin, Antopol, Divin and Zhabinka were. One of the most fatal departments of a gebitskomissariat for local population soon became "арбайтсамт" - bureau on employment by which all adult population was obliged to be registered. Evasion or absence from work according to the agenda of this establishment involved sending to a concentration camp. In the direction of an arbaytsamt in the same fall several hundreds officially not of busy citizens had to be on airfield where in pre-war months for construction of a runway huge heaps of stones were brought. The driven slaves had to break them in filling brick. Also prisoners of war whom Germans held on short rations were engaged in it. Soon citizens came into contact with prisoners, shared with them bread, tobacco. Work on stones dragged on to frosts. Then the same men switched to another - dismantling of the brick boxes which remained after the fire on Oktyabrskaya Street.

The first victim of the occupational mode in Kobrin was the former prisoner of a concentration camp in Beryoze-Kartuzsky during rule of bourgeois and landowner Poland Ekaterina Gasilevich. Hitlerites organized public trial of it with the invitation of everyone. However fans to take a look at a fascist court was not. Having quickly curtailed the judicial comedy, Gestapo men shot the patriot at walls of the building of present militia.

Ominous popularity among the population was gained by a slope from turn of Pinskoye Highway at rise on the bridge via the Dnepro-Bugsky channel. He was elected for the punishments by military commandant's office. Almost daily at about noon here at a mad speed there came cars. Quickly the cordon with dogs was built. Passersby quite often became witnesses of how from trucks pushed out the people beaten, tormented with tortures with the connected hands, forced to the knees. Then executioners, going along the rank which stiffened at a slope, methodically shot at a nape to each victim. The killed slid downhill. Sometimes the victims were given a free hand and with a smile suggested to run, and then shot at a back.

Invaders attached special significance to demonstration of the military progress, specially did not remove the broken Soviet tanks - certificates of drama events of the beginning of war. Hardly the front was removed from Kobrin, the tractor brought because of Bona where still quite recently there was a fight which is lined with a direct hit the BT-7 tank with the burned bodies of the Soviet tankmen. It was dragged up to a monument to V. N. Lenin that was on the former Market square renamed on the eve of war into Liberty Square. By calculations of invaders, this show had to frighten, plunge people into despair, but the effect appeared absolutely other. Not the fear of power of the German weapon, but pain and anger were on faces kobrinchan. Then the tank was removed, and the monument was destroyed.

Under the guise of fight against guerrillas chasteners turned the whole areas into the empty zones, tens of villages were wiped out, their inhabitants were destroyed, taken out to concentration camps or fascist slavery to Germany.

In Recyca on September 5, 1942 chasteners burned 45 yards, shot or burned living 64 its inhabitants. Next day, on September 6, the tragedy happened also in Kamenka where 152 civilians were shot and 73 yards are burned. The same destiny comprehended also Borisovka destroyed by aggressors during the operation "Triangle" in the Brest, Kobrin and Maloritsky districts.

On November 7, 1942 became in the fatal afternoon for 56 inhabitants of of Cherevachitsa. In live ostalns only those, chm houses did not manage to set fire also who could jump out of the blazing dwelling. In 1943 the bitter fate concerned villages the Eagle, Novosyolkn, Borki and Luka. On July 13, 1944 Hitlerite executioners rushed into of Povitye where over 120 houses and 141 inhabitants were destroyed...
