Poteshny Palace of Anna Ioannovna is a symbol of her reign, her despotic power. And what is the palace? In my understanding – it is the house, the center, human heat. And the ice house is a cold, hatred, contrast of the captivating beauty and a repellent disgrace, or synthesis of ardent passion of the South and a northern icy cold?

I wanted to visit the Ice Arena of Grodno long ago. And here the chance – I in business trip in Grodno appeared. In the first day I reached the Palace. I found it on Gorky St. on the place of old stadium. In appearance huge, low, gray-brown building. I could not choose a look for a photo. Alas! Beauty did not turn out.

Near a ticket office I met the citizen buying the ticket worth 15 thousand for Valeria. In the foyer of the Palace I was met by two porters, having looked at my certificate, allowed to examine everything that I will want. I glanced to the hall. There on ice two teams of boys drove a washer. And on a tribune five adults sat. Everywhere was light-and warmly as in the summer. Seats in the hall 3000.

On beautiful wide as the road, to a corridor I went to look for a management office. The handsome man of years 50 Vasily Rudko met me kindly. From conversation I learned that service personnel in the Palace – 82 persons though on staff –126. On a question whether the Palace is empty, whether it is necessary to the city, I was convinced of the return.

According to the schedule on ice the children's sports school – 400 people, hockey club "Neman" (leader) trains. In free time on ice any can get: the price of 1 hour – 1,5 thousand rubles. Plus the championships, plus – concerts of entertainment stars.

And already in confidence – Grodno waits for the visit of the Valley, Leontyev and Alla Borisovna with the spouse. The palace was opened 11.12.99, having spent about 2,5 million US dollars. "When will pay off?" – the director asked again me. Also did not answer. And I also did not insist.

And now we will compare Palaces of Grodno and Brest. Brest – the sixth in RB. Outside our Palace is magnificent, and inside is fantastically beautiful. Speak, however, cost 3,5 million US dollars.

It is asked, money from where? And from there! But what beauty: on the Palace – an euroway, unbreakable lamps, a lawn for baseball, the English false ceilings, the Finnish ice. Above – velvet racks, are farther the hall for meetings. And on the third floor – a bed. For whom? For the guest.

Grodnentsa will not brag of it. They have a lobby – the foyer, two buffets, the hall (speak, there sometimes trade), clothes, a workshop on repair of sport stock and a number of utility rooms.

However, walls are revetted with a tile of all flowers and shades, false ceilings, an electronic board as anywhere. Also built the Palace slightly more than a year according to the resolution of Council of ministers of RB No. 813 of 22.05.98. "About prime measures for construction and reconstruction of sports constructions".

Near an entrance on stadium I asked ten citizens: "How often you go here?" The answer was unambiguous: "We do not go, expensively!" "And Valeria?" Answered so: "And whether it was worth building because of "Valeria"?"

I went to hotel on foot on Gorky St., on a chipped path, as well as 30 years ago when I studied here.
