Temples of the Spassky man's monastery of Mr. Kobrin

Monasteries (from Greek a cell of hermits), in Christianity – the community of monks accepting uniform rules of life.
About time of construction of the Spassky monastery of the data are inconsistent. And throughout centuries it was not once reconstructed.

But from written sources it is known, "that in 1465 the princess Iuliana (Ulyana) with the son Ivan from the possession otpisat under Saint Spassky's church of the Kobrin monastery a mill on Shevna with the earth and a pond", and many other things. And still the source reports that at the head of the monastery there was "abbot Varlaam".

From stock of 1549 we learn that big values were stored in church of the Spassky monastery: icons, written on a gold background, library from the most rare books, pechatanny Cyrillics, published in 1491. There was a Gospel fettered by silver.

In a written source of 1792 it is said that "the monastery stone, and church wooden and shabby". In "The Grodno orthodox and church calendar" for 1899 there are interesting data that in 1512 the Polish king Sigizmunt assigned by the I diploma to the monastery "nadanni" of the princess Fedora. It is about transfer to the monastery of andronovsky lands (the village of Andronovo, nowadays Kobrin's suburb).

So often gave to monasteries the earth in "exchange" for burial in monastic church. So it also was. The same source of 1899 confirms: "The prince Ioann Semenovich and Fedor's spouse in pig-iron coffins are buried in a vault of the Spassky monastery". These coffins will be found at reconstruction of the building "for polskim to hours".

In a calendar for 1899 it is also about old wooden Svyato-Spaso-Preobrazhenskoy monastic church in which about four thousand parishioners: citizens and Orthodox Christians in 10 settlements of the suburb of Kobrin. And in "the Vilensky messenger" for 1869 we read that "in 1830 in the Spassky monastery the spiritual school was arranged, and the place of the temple which burned down in 1812 on "the uchilishchny yard gave Up as a bad job". It is for certain known that after the fire during fight the new church "was arranged in the stone two-storeyed building of the monastery from monastic cells".

Also it occupied two floors of the central part of the main case, gold domes rising over the building. Also was house, i.e. intended only for pupils and teachers of school. The school trained boys of 9-11 years for receipt in the Theological seminary.

However, in 1869 "it was offered to clean this church on the device of classes, living student's rooms. "And Sacred Church of the Transfiguration was abolished and arranged own uchilishchnaya house Svyato-Kirillo-Mefodiyevskaya church only on the second floor". Domes still decorated the building. To the reader I hope the future of the monastery is interesting.

Teachers and vypuskinitsa of women's school

In later time in the building of the monastery there were "military barracks of an infantry Kazan regiment, then women's spiritual school (trained regents, for church choir), then church teacher's second-class school for training of teachers in church schools of the Kobrin County". In the temple of Saints Kirill and Mefodiy the service was conducted before the fire of 1896 when the Spassky monastery burned down.

Ruins of the Kobrin monastery

After the fire the monastery, and remained only its burned stone case, long was not restored. In World War I homeless families somehow were proved in the building, and the yard chose the Gipsy camp. And in the mid-twenties Poles repaired the zakinuty house and arranged "pavyatova court there". Here they at earth and construction works found coffins of Kobrin princes, and in walls "there are more than ten human skeletons chained in a chain". For what faults of people immured in walls where they were put by Poles – for today it is unknown. And, maybe, who knows?

During fascist occupation the building of the monastery (according to memoirs of old residents), was used by soldiers under barracks. Officers of "Smersh" – counterintelligence of the USSR located in the 44th in it during World War II. Somewhere from 46th year the Kobrin militia till 2009 was placed there. And in November, 2010 in newly the repaired building of the Spassky man's monastery the convent is arranged. And on August 14, 2013 the new house temple in honor of an icon of the Mother of God of "Skoroposlushnits" is consecrated there.                                                                                                                              Icon of "Skoroposlushnits"

Epilog
I hope that in memory of two Orthodox churches of the Spassky monastery: Preobrazhenskiy and Kirillo-Mefodiyevsky, 1812 and 1896 which burned down in the fires, grateful descendants will restore memory "Cross" in the yard of already new Spassky convent.
