Sacred Church of the Intercession of the village Hodynichi that in Kobrin district

The first mention of the settlement Hodynichi belongs to 1567 as property of landowners Kulnevichey. To documents on lawsuits of a manor of this village remained today. A certain hodynichsky landowner in 1655 bequeathed all the property (rooms, lands) to monks of the orthodox Lepesovsky monastery. When here monks lodged, somebody Tabolsky in 1667 with group attacked monks. They resisted and wounded him. In the same place Tobolsk also died. Then his relatives gave on monks to the Brest court. The court acquitted monks. And from 1679 to 1691 Hodynichi were in possession of the Lepesovsky monastery. (Cultivating the land, the monastery gained income. Monks held oxen, horses, cows). And since 1691 the Lepesovsky monastery and all its possession were violently occupied by uniats.

From written sources it is known that in 1746 near local cemeteries the small uniatsky church was constructed. Perhaps and it carried the name of the Sacred Cover. There is a mention of an Orthodox church of the village Hodynichi in 1897. Then in the village there were 40 houses and nearly three hundred inhabitants. Besides in the district of the settlement were: Hodynichi-Shevchuk, Hodynichi-Mateyuk, Hodynichi-Maryanovichey. There too there lived people.

Maryanovich are two unmarried brothers landowners. It on their money the Orthodox church which carried almost last hundred years the name of the Sacred Cover was constructed. By the way, brothers wanted to be buried in Hodynichakh. But eternal rest was found on a village Verkholesye St. Nicholas Church main line.

Witnesses who remember the last cemeterial church are still living. There was it wooden, is made without uniform metal nailing. The tree was resinous, from a pine. Processed on both sides by the axe. Logs close without cracks adjoined with each other, forming a smooth surface.

And outside and from within the surface seemed red-amber. Also a floor, only yellow-amber was same. Choruses were on two columns, on choruses there was the same "amber" ladder. The church was one-dome, a wooden covering and with a wooden cross. A cover from a gonta (or shingles). The base was high. From a local stone. Here builders an altar turned that on the East. And the entrance to the temple was from West side. But not Orthodox Christians refused everything. In memory of the old temple they left icons and two marble angels. Size so about a meter everyone. Also angels wooden, very beautiful iconostasis crowned.

In World War I of service in the temple there were no whole three years. But the temple was not plundered. Perhaps, going to fleeing, the best of the temple was dug. And having returned, the service was conducted before World War II. After war in cemeterial church read the burial service over dead men. And only two times in a year: in the spring to Mikola and in the fall on the Cover in Is sacred Pokrovsk the temple there was a service and big gathering of people.

In church the image of "Odigitriya Mother of God" was especially esteemed. In the center of the temple the beautiful many-tier church chandelier hung. From a gold bowl parishioners took communion. Most of all was icons hand-written on a wooden board. Somewhere in 1961 to the temple there arrived the commission from Minsk. They highly appreciated church utensils and took away a lot of things. And in 1962 the church was closed, motivating with the fact that "a pier the roof in the temple was worn out". Parishioners went to local collective farm of Chkalov. The chairman of that time refused to help to repair a roof Sacredly of the Pokrovsk temple. The chairman was called Vasily Dmitranitsa.

So the temple with the proceeding roof staid more than ten years, so far a certain drunkard by the name of Grishin with such as itself did not begin to sort church. By then it is unknown where icons and other temple accessories got to. They are not by the way, in the next Verkholessky church, to which cemeterial was attributed to that. Logs from the centenary temple were such beautiful that the local joiner not to one house made of them windows. And other logs and disappeared on a collective-farm mekhdvor. Where marble angels got to – too it is unknown.

And only years to 15 that on the place of the sorted temple the open kaplichka was made of the village of Verkholesye and local parishioners from a brick efforts of the priest. In it read the burial service over dead men.
