Queen of Polesia

To the 15 anniversary of the Decree of the Pope on crowning of the Logishinsky icon of the Mother of God. There was a Northern war of 1700-1720 between Swedes and Russians (in the union with Poland). Russians were torn to the Baltic Sea.

In April, 1706, having left Grodno, the Swedish king Karl XII with the army through Pruzhany, the Birch, Homsk went to Pinsk. Russians through the Stomach left to Minsk. One of the Swedish groups in Merchitsakh turned in Logishin, to have a rest and fill up provisions. The Swedish officer of this group "on the apartment" at the secretary of town council became nobody Milashevsky. With itself it had a small parcel which he put behind a door. Also called that officer Galaburd.
After a while, having bought provisions and having had a rest, the group left the town. And the officer whether forgot a parcel, whether paid them for a billeting. In a parcel there was a fine icon of the Mother of God with the child.

Milashevsky collected the familiar logishinets, and they agreed to bring an image in a church, having placed it in expensive salary.

Several words about a church. The first church was constructed on Stanislav Radzivill's money in 1634. The church wooden, 10 long is put off, a pediment on the West, with two turrets on a roof. The roof is gontovy, crosses from yellow metal. Two entrances. There is a belltower. In the temple a brick floor, on choruses body. From furniture the most esteemed icon of the Mother of God and 20 more icons, 10 wooden sculptures, Christ Redeemer's statue, 2 confessionals, rukonosny shity beads an icon, 5 banners.

And so, also placed an icon of the Mother of God in this first church. And soon it glorified itself by miracles. By a big miracle the people called the fact of rescue of the temple from the fire during which all houses which are in the neighbourhood burned down. Further the image divided temple history. Since 1866 it served orthodox Christians, and was a worship subject there (to the power the church was delegated to orthodox church). But Catholics never forgot that the image belongs to them, and came to an Orthodox church to pray to a favourite image, having called her the Queen of Polesia.

When in 1913 Catholics bought the land and constructed a new church (works and until now), Orthodox Christians did not return an icon to them. And only in 1938 several Catholic youth secretly took out an image of the Mother of God from church and placed it in a church.

Three times Orthodox Christians had legal proceedings with Catholics. But the court remained on the party of Catholics. Even in September, 1938 when Councils came, Catholics did not give an icon, and the new power agreed with it though Orthodox Christians of it already demanded.
In the fall of 1939 the icon was sent to Warsaw, there it was updated and the bishop Brest Kazimir Bukraba himself brought it from Warsaw and with own hand placed in the main altar. And it was welcomed by both Catholics and Orthodox Christians.
In war the icon was in a church. But when in 1944 Logishin included Red Army, having exempted the town from fascists, Orthodox Christians made again an attempt to take away an icon in church. But the military commissioner did not support their intention.

And the image till today is a worship subject in Catholic Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, on Tamilin St., Logishin. And on May 10, 1997 solemn crowning of a wonder-working image of Logishinsky Bogomateri Koronami of the Pope took place.
