International importance:
It is included in the Red List of Belarus of the 2nd edition (1993). It is protected in Poland and Lithuania.

Description:
Large dark or brown-green very friable dernovinka (or impurity to other mosses) 2-7 cm high. Leaves with the oblong basis, linearly-lantsetnye, long and sharply pointed, kilevaty. Cages at the top of a leaf roundish and oblong, strongly reinforced, with long needle papilla, in the basis near a vein linear, at edges square. The box shipped or which is a little acting from a perikhetion, big, elongated and ovoid, with a long neck, pale yellow, with 8 strips. Ustyitsa superficial.

Rasprostraniyeniye:
Central and the Atlantic Europe, northwest of Eastern Europe, North Africa, West of North America. In Belarus it is authentically known in Slonimsky district of the Grodno Region. According to literary data, met in Bialowieza Forest.

Habitats:
Grows on the shaded damp concrete construction, but before it was specified on trunks of deciduous trees.

Biology:
Dvudomny plant. Sporonosit in the summer. Vegetative reproduction by the simple or branched vyvodkovy little bodies which are formed on both parties of a leaf and veins.

Number and tendency of its change:
The dernovinok or as impurity in dernovinka of other mosses forms small groups enough small. Tendencies of change of number demand further studying.

Major factors of threat:
Air pollution, cutting down of the old-age broad-leaved woods.

Protection measures:
Can grow in Bialowieza Forest though its stay at the beginning of the 20th century is not confirmed. Preservation of the old-age broad-leaved woods is necessary.
