Zaslonov Street

Zaslonov Street is called in honor of the Soviet guerrilla, the hero of the Great Patriotic War Konstantin Zaslonov. 

Barriers Konstantin Sergeyevich (the guerrilla pseudonym "Uncle Kostya") - one of outstanding active participants and heads of the guerrilla movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War; the commander of guerrilla group and crew ordering all guerrilla forces of an orshansky zone. Was born on January 7, 1910 in the city of Ostashkov of the Tver region in the worker's family. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War at the way of fascist troops to Orsha K.S. Zaslonov was evacuated to Moscow and worked in depot of a name of Ilyich, but in October, 1941 at a personal request is sent with group of railroad workers to the back of the enemy.

Having legalized in the city of Orsha, in November, 1941 Barriers went to work in orshansky depot as the chief of the Russian locomotive crews and created underground group which developed vigorous diversionary activity. In 3 months underground workers, applying "coal" mines (that is the mines disguised under coal), made about hundred trains wrecks, undermined ninety three engines, put hundreds of cars and tanks out of action. It significantly slowed down expeditious transportations of the opponent.

Because of threat of arrest at the beginning of March, 1942 K.S. of barriers with group of underground workers leaves Orsha and creates the guerrilla group which grew in July, 1942 in crew of "Uncle Kostya". In the summer and fall of 1942 this crew conducted active guerrilla actions, carrying out raids near the cities of Vitebsk, Orsha, Smolensk where there took place important communications of fascist group of Centre armies, destroyed a large number of enemy soldiers and equipment.

In October, 1942 K.S. of barriers was appointed by the commander of all guerrilla forces of an orshansky zone. The guerrilla commander was killed death brave in action with chasteners on November 14, 1942 near the village Kupovat of Orshansky district of the Vitebsk region of Belarus. It is buried in Orsha at railway station. The decree of Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of March 7, 1943 for model performance of fighting tasks of command at the front of fight against fascist aggressors and the courage and heroism shown at the same time to Zaslonov Konstantin Sergeyevich posthumously gave the rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union.

It is awarded by two Orders of Lenin, a medal.

The monument to the Hero is established in Orsha at railway station, busts - in the capital of Belarus the hero town of Minsk and in front of the main case of locomotive depot in Orsha. Locomotive depot in Orsha, vessels of the Ministries river and navy, the street of the cities of Vitebsk, Orsha, Gomel, Grodno, Kiev, Minsk, Khabarovsk, Ufa and many others are called a name of K. S. Zaslonov. The image of the Hero is imprinted in the feature film "Konstantin Zaslonov" and the play of A. Movzon of the same name. The name of the Hero is beaten out on a monument to the died workers and the employee of locomotive depot of Orsha.
