International importance:
It is included in the Red List of Belarus of the 2nd edition (1993). It is protected in Latvia.

Description:
Perennial grassy bulbous plant 15-45 cm high. Bulbs are oblong, located on a short rhizome. The stalk is smooth, hollow, with a diameter of 2-5 mm inside. Leaves (1-2) are usually shorter than a stalk, with a diameter of 2-6 mm, dudchaty, with a long vagina. An inflorescence - almost spherical dense umbrella with unequal pedicels, without lukovichek. Leaflets of an okolotsvetnik pink or pink-violet, brilliant. A fruit - a trihedral box. Seeds are angular.

Rasprostraniyeniye:
Arktoalpiysky relic view with a wide golarktichesky area. It is widespread in Europe, in the Caucasus, in Siberia, in the Far East, in North America. In Belarus is in separate localities on the southern border of the North European flat fragment of an area. It is revealed in several points in the valley of the Western Dvina: Beshenkovichsky, Vitebsk, Polotsk and Shumilinsky districts of the Vitebsk Region. Recently it is found in vicinities of Volkovysk. It is brought for Bialowieza Forest. Earlier it was specified for the territory of Elsky district (the vicinity of Kuzmichi) Gomel regional.

Habitats:
Grows on crude meadows in valleys of the rivers.

Biology:
Blossoms at the end of June - July. Mainly entomofit. Fructifies in August. Reproduction seed and vegetative. Ballistas - the anemokhor, is more rare zoochorus.

Number and tendency of its change:
Meets in a small amount in the limited territory. In culture well fructifies, gives vskhozhy seeds and self-sowing.

Major factors of threat:
Anthropogenous transformation of lands, plowing of meadows, cattle pasture, trampling.

Protection measures:
It is cultivated in the Central botanical garden NAN of Belarus and Botanical garden BGU. Audit of the known locations and control of a condition of populations, the organization of specialized botanical wildlife areas in all known localities with prohibition in places of growth of anthropogenous influences, identification of new places of growth and their protection are necessary. Broader cultivation of a look in culture as a food plant is recommended.
