First series. "Teacher without diploma"

He was born in unusual marriage: to a wedding mother was a townswoman, and the father - the 11th child in a country family who managed to be learned also edified in Kobrin. At Poland began to direct chorus in Sacred Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and at the end of life it was imposed. Parents gave to both sons fine education: the elder brother of Georgy graduated from academy of Arts in Krakow, became the famous portraitist, lived in Gdansk and there is buried. Younger Semenyuk ended a Kobrin gymnasium and continued education at Vilensky university. Especially capable he appeared to languages, in a gymnasium well mastered Russian and Polish, and thanks to the teacher from Germany - and German. This knowledge he used then all life.

World war prevented to gain the diploma in Vilno, but Georgy entered the Baranovichsky teacher's institute and after the first course was directed to work to. The palace of Stolbtsovsky district, trained rural kids in German. There got acquainted with the future wife, and in March of the 41st left on conscription service. After the oath of recruits carried to Leningrad, and near Bologoye station their structure was destroyed by bombing by Germans - there the fighter Semenyuk and received baptism of fire, by miracle having survived.

Second series. "The German order"

From Moscow fighters were sent to the West, the structure was unloaded near Vitebsk near a front line. The regiment which is not fired yet in the wood dug entrenchments, fascists broke through defense and took Red Army men in a ring together with officers. The prisoner-of-war camp stood on the coast of the Western Dvina, thousands of hungry soldiers kept only thanks to the help of locals. "We will be gone here, it is time to be chosen", - Georgy Semenyuk told the friend fellow countryman. But how? Decided to cross at night the river, but on the opposite coast they were noticed by Germans and opened fire, it was necessary to return to camp. And soon prisoners of war were driven to Orsha, and friends joined a column in hope to run away.

He remembered those dusty versts well. Emaciated people went with the last bit of strength, the weak were helped by companions because fallen escorts adjusted on the place. Already then, at the very beginning of war, fascists showed the habit: full, equipped, they laughed, looking at the hungry torn-off prisoners, photographed them, and near Orsha as cattle, drove into camp and sorted: the soldier - separately, officers and Jews - separately. God knows, as they determined a nationality, and here ranks – by hair: if the hairdress a hedgehog – means, the private. It is a lot of then commanders and Jews shot. And in a day - another - the German order in operation! - in the morning rise and "шнель" for work!

Georgy Semenyuk and his friend were defined on the railroad to narrow a track for the German structures. Having a bit accustomed, the Belarusian began to look for acquaintances to local workers. Started talking in Polish, told that from Brest, and one Pole - the railroader helped the fellow countryman with the companion to run away - to take the train towards Borisov.

To Stolbtsovsky district there were several days of traveling, and friends decided to go in the afternoon. So more safely, Georgy judged. Came on the farm, exchanged boots for bast shoes, asked a pitchfork and a rake for owners - and went under the guise of peasants in the face of Germans. It came to the Palace late night, was knocked in a window. "Oh, sir teacher! From where you?" - the hostess was delighted. "The hardware, ran away from camp where Irina?" It appeared, the wife at the family in the World. There, beyond Neman, on Shchar, the guerrilla group worked, in which before release of the settlement in the 44th and Georgy Semenyuk was coherent.

Third series. "Vienna remembers..."

In a military registration and enlistment office, having learned that the private Semenyuk owns Polish and German, it was immediately defined in investigation of a boundary regiment - the front needed translators. While from Baranovichi through Poland with fights went to Vienna, hundreds of times appeared in vanguard, in the place of break or the main blow. Intelligence agents got "language", and translators "got" then from it data.

"First of all I asked the German: you will tell the truth or not? Georgy Mikhaylovich tells.

- And you know, the prisoner's rank was higher, the more they spoke against Hitler. Thanks to information of one senior officer, ours broke through the front. And boys from the Hitler Youth persisted supposedly shoot, I will tell nothing".

On April 12 the 45th kobrinchanin Semenyuk saw Vienna. "What city! As we were accepted by wreaths! - and now the head the veteran delightfully swings. - Vienna was bombed, of course, but all valuable remained. We looked as people live. the 5-storey beautiful house with the concierge, a well-groomed court yard - on only 5 families. We were surprised with companions and calling on. The Vienna girls were very friendly and hungry. Our field kitchens stood on each street fed up local, especially children".

Vienna, as well as Berlin, was divided into 4 parts between allied troops. And once at Georgy Mikhaylovich the surprising meeting took place. The colonel of the French army drove up to their commandant's office. "Shprekhen zi doych?" - the translator Semenyuk asked. And the Frenchman in the purest Russian suddenly answered it: "Smart guy! We do not need this language! Let to speak Russian! I after World War I remained to live in France and when heard the native speech, became 20 years younger!" In the eyes and in a voice of the colonel tears appeared.

And one more historical event remained in memory of the translator – a grandiose celebration in which participated from the USSR the marshal Konev, from France – General de Gaulle, from Great Britain – the field marshal of Montgomery, from America – the general Clark. On official part they were seen with own eyes by Georgy Semenyuk. The marshal Konev opened meeting, after it general allies spoke about friendship between the people too. Then Sveshnikov's chorus acted, the French actors sang, Americans danced "apple". And one Englishman suddenly got up and lifted one left the huge weight (the holiday took place in some gym in the center of Vienna) – showed the force. After it there was the Soviet officer, the Siberian, and lifted the same weight in general without hands, teeth. All began to groan around, applauded – here supposedly they what, Russian!

And then there was a feast, generals left, there were officers in the colonel's rank below, there were also translators in civil. Georgy Mikhaylovich sat near already familiar French colonel, that told about a family, well played grand piano, asked on life in the USSR. "I then strong lied to it", – the veteran admits today.

Fourth series. "Guards great-grandfather"

From Vienna their boundary regiment was thrown to Latvia, and then sent to Belarus. Georgy Semenyuk crossed border in Brest and on a question of the companion "Far farther?" honestly answered: "I do not know". For a start decided to visit parents. In Kobrin also remained. Here it worked many years at a pedagogics field - the director of evening school of young workers, the director of studies of SSh No. 2 and even at pension - the teacher of German. Here three of his sons were born, all got a good education and got on in the world. Now Georgy Mikhaylovich has already four grandsons and three great-grandsons. He poorly sees, but by means of magnifying glass reads newspapers, I found it with fresh number in hands.

"I here think why the destroyed Europe managed to rise so quickly after war and to leave so far forward, and we, the winner people, so lagged behind? - the veteran reflects aloud. - When made a mistake where curtailed not there?" The series of his life, fortunately, proceed.
