On the eve of the scheduled anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War I bring to attention of readers the unique pictures devoted to the first days of war in our city.

Let's remind that during this period the majority of the Soviet troops was at the border and it was soon destroyed. The fascist aircraft destroyed also warehouses with fuel and ammunition in the next back including in Kobrin. the 22nd tank division under command of the major general Victor Puganov which was deployed in the district of Brest conducted on June 22, 1941 defensive actions at a boundary of the Western Bug in the south from Brest then as a part of a division there were only about 100 tanks.

Upon the demand of the management of the Western front instead of withdrawal on Kobrin's boundary and preparation of the echeloned defense on June 23 a division from the area Zhabinki undertook counterstroke during which she crushed a motorized column of the German troops and receded towards our city. About 10 o'clock in the morning of a division together with parts of the 28th shooting case it was succeeded to detain fascists at an unprepared boundary of Tevli — Andronovo — Patriki. Germans, having encountered persistent resistance, accepted this boundary for ukreprayon. In Kobrin the mass of aircraft was pulled together, approach was preceded by powerful artillery preparation.

At 16 o'clock in the afternoon during the hardened fights the opponent broke to the north of Kobrin, his tanks began to come to Varshavskoye Highway. the 22nd tank division suffered heavy losses, at. A name-day in the tank the commander of a division V.P. Puganov died.

Approximately at 17 o'clock fascists were detained at the river Mukhavets by the divisions of the 205th motorized division which are put forward here the day before, the 22nd tank division departed here. In the late afternoon the opponent tightened to the river Mukhavets tank divisions of the 24th motorized case which with strong support of aircraft once again attacked our parts.

In a course of action when ammunition came to an end, the Soviet tanks rammed enemy. The crew of the BT-7 tank which was ordered by Victor Skvortsov acted this way. And other crew (the Komsomol member Lyutikov was his commander) did not get out of the car captured by fire. Heroes managed to line the fascist tank, machine-gun fire destroyed ten submachine gunners, and died. Exhausted by long fights, at an acute shortage of ammunition, antiaircraft means, artilleries and even anti-tank mines, army of the 4th army did not sustain an impact. Fascist tanks broke in the direction of the Birch and partially from Dams turned on Pruzhana.

As the historian Alexey Martynov wrote in the articles, after occupation of the city fascists pulled together the lined Soviet tanks there and did not allow to bury tankmen...
