International importance: The look is included in the MSOP Red list (LR/nt, ver. 2.3, 1994) and Red List of Lithuania.

Description:
Length of a bug is 24-36 mm. The body flattened top blue or violet. Wing sheaths with three rows of hillocks and thin intervals. The sculpture of wing sheaths which is often confused, irregular. Bottom, legs, top jaws and short moustaches black.

Rasprostraniyeniye:
Western European mesophilic look. Across the territory of Belarus there passes the eastern frontier of distribution. It is known only from the territory of Bialowieza Forest.

Habitats:
In pine forests mossy it is usual, in other types of the wood it is rare.

Biology:
The only type of the subsort Chaetocarabus in fauna of Belarus. View with spring and summer type of reproduction. The imago winters. Development of larvae takes place in June-August, an okuklivaniye - in August. Bugs live several years, breed every year. Larvae and an imago eat larvae of insects, overland mollusks, worms; are active mainly in twilight and at night. Thermophilic look.

Number and tendency of its change:
Rare species. In Bialowieza Forest number its stable.

Major factors of threat:
Economic activity in the woods.

Protection measures:
The look is included in the 2nd edition of the Red List of Republic of Belarus (the III category). It is protected in Bialowieza Forest. Promotion of protection of a look and control of a condition of populations is necessary. Identification of new habitats of a look and their protection.
